The Transition of Cardiovascular Disease Risks from NAFLD to MAFLD

The increased burden of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) parallels the incidence overweight and metabolic syndrome worldwide. Because close relationship between disorders disease, a new term, metabolic-related (MAFLD), was proposed by group experts to more precisely describe resulting from disorders. According definitions, MAFLD NAFLD populations have considerable discrepancies, but overlap does exist. This definition has nonnegligible impact on clinical practices, including diagnoses, interventions, risk comorbidities. Emerging evidence suggested that patients with comorbidities an all-cause mortality, particularly cardiovascular mortality than NAFLD. In this review, we systemically summarized compared underlying mechanisms (CVD) in or MAFLD.
